The Cardiff and Vale Regional Partnership Board (RPB) was pleased to welcome Huw Irranca-Davies at the meeting on 10th May. The Minister for Children and Social Care received a presentation on how we have used the Integrated Care Fund to provide innovative and integrated services for older people, children with complex needs and carers. We also discussed the positive progress that has been made to bring together budgets for older people’s services across the region. Finally, we were able to highlight ambitious plans to build on these successes, learning from best practice in New Zealand and other areas to deliver care and support through collaborative working.

In response, the Minister welcomed the extremely positive outcomes that have been achieved for citizens so far and challenged us to build on these successes for the future.

At the end of the discussion, Huw Irranca-Davies AM commented “Whilst we cannot underestimate the immense challenges to health and social care, I have a sense of optimism about what can be done by partners working together collaboratively to make a real difference to the people we serve”.

Cllr Susan Elsmore, Chair of the RPB and Cabinet Member for Health, Housing and Wellbeing at Cardiff Council, said “This is an exciting time for Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan. Our RPB has developed an ambitious agenda to work in partnership across our region and we have high expectations for what we can achieve for our citizens.”
