We hosted a joint workshop session with Social Business Wales as part of our Social Value Forum.  The half day workshop was aimed at statutory bodies and third sector organisations in Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan who wanted a better understanding of how to maximise opportunities from public sector contracts.

Through a mixture of presentation, discussion and practical exercises, participants gained an understanding of public sector procurement and how we can better engage third sector bodies in the delivery of innovative public services. Specifically the workshop covered:

– The current public sector procurement context

– An explanation of terminology and processes involved

– Introduction to Sell 2 Wales

– EU procurement thresholds

– Barriers to bidding

– Exemptions to consider in the EU procurement regulations

– Support provided by Social Business Wales
